In search of new musical territories, seven of the most outstanding young improvising musicians in the vibrant norwegian jazz scene gathers in Megalodon Collective. Inspirations from film music, outer space, free jazz, improv, noise, classical and medieval music are obvious.
Megalodon Collective is said to be one of the best new jazz-orchestras to come out of the Norwegian/Swedish jazz scene. The septet released their debut album september 2017 and has toured all of Norway with great sucsess. The debut album is nominated for best jazz album of 2015 at the Norwegian Grammys. Just months after the nomination, the band goes ahead and wins the prestigious ‘Young Jazz Musicians Of The Year’ award at Molde Jazz Festival.
Their second album ‘Animals’ was released on Jazzland Recordings (Bugge Wesseltoft), March 2017 and was very well recieved by press both in Norway and in the rest of Europe.
